SPACECOOL Selected for Joint Participation with Osaka Gas and Four Other Companies in a ” public appeal for demonstration tests in Yumeshima” Sponsored by the Japan Association for the 2025 World Exposition and Osaka Chamber of Commerce
We are happy to announce that the joint proposal submitted by SPACECOOL INC. (CEO: Takayuki Hoshuyama) (which was competing against an initial 39 proposals offered in response to public appeal) has passed through the final selection process, to participate in the “demonstration tests in Yumeshima”. Yumeshima is the venue for the Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, sponsored by the Japan Association for the 2025 World Exposition and the Osaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and SPACECOOL will collaborate with Osaka Gas and four other companies who made the joint proposal to conduct the demonstration tests there.
1. Name of demonstration test
“SPACECOOL” Radiative Sky Cooling Material Value Verification Demonstration Test
2. Responsible organization: Jointly participating companies
Representative corporation: Osaka Gas Co., Ltd.
Jointly participating companies: NTN Corporation, KANBO PRAS CORPORATION, SPACECOOL INC., Seiritsu Industry Co., Ltd., Takenaka Corporation
3. Summary of tests
Osaka Gas successfully developed “SPACECOOL”, a radiative sky cooling material which lowers its temperature below that of the surrounding air in direct sunlight and without electricity, by radiating heat into space. Subsequently, SPACECOOL INC. was established to conduct full-scale sales of this material, which achieves one of the highest levels of cooling performance in the world (as much as 6°C lower than the ambient temperature during the day).
In collaboration with diverse enterprises, the demonstration tests in Yumeshima will evaluate the value of radiative sky cooling materials in various hypothetical applications with regard to energy conservation, economy, comfort, and safety.
NTN will cover the exterior of its “N3 N-Cube” (an independent mobile power supply which adds mobility to renewable energy generation) with SPACECOOL and evaluate its effectiveness.
KANBO PRAS will use a tent fabric that combines tent material and SPACECOOL to manufacture and install test tents for evaluation.
Takenaka Corporation and Seiritsu Industry will verify the effectiveness of SPACECOOL applied to electrical service panels.
4. Company Overview
SPACECOOL INC. is an open innovation joint venture between WiL, LLC and Osaka Gas Co., Ltd. We develop and sell “SPACECOOL”, a radiative sky cooling material to ameliorate hot environments.
